Reverse Engineering & Reviewing Other Branched eLearning Scenarios

Writer's picture: John RobertsonJohn Robertson

This week I was asked to reverse engineer a Branched eLearning scenario from a list provided in class. This was a fun task to go and look at what another company or another ID has produced for a customer and be able to provide feedback based on what I have learned or really just how I felt going through the course itself.

I chose a "Patient Management" scenario that was "an abridged demo version of the the Patient Management course. It takes you through medical cases using investigative real-life scenario branching logic to diagnose and treat sample patients. Success, failure, and feedback are all tracked." (Patient Management (smartbuilder.com))

I used the provided template to review a few of the slides as I went through the scenario and provide feedback. (see below) Again, I can see the reasoning for the template and if I was tasked with reviewing a product from my company this provides a starting point to go slide by slide and give feedback. I did not enjoy copying and pasting each slide and would actually have preferred just using PowerPoint notes section but that was not available. In lieu of that option, this template only needs slight modification to provide the feedback that I was looking to give. In addition, I think that it also allows the reviewer to take snips of "things I like" to save them for later with really good notes about how it was used in this certain case.
